As one who ever avoided social gatherings, the idea of arranging a celebration of the life of my darling wife, weighed heavily on my mind.

My wife unlike me, was very sociable; ever smiling and spreading a degree of warmth and as such she was much loved by many people she befriended over her 70 years.  

Maria both comforted and reassured me that if I could provide a list of family and friends close to my wife, Maria would contact them to gain a real insight as to the sense of fun, joy and laughter, and oft times support, that my dear wife brought into their lives; Maria’s thinking being that many, 

if not the majority of those attending the ceremony, would then be able to relate to the ceremony in some way.

This was the first non-religious funeral I had attended and I was a bit unsure of what to expect. It was my friend's dad who had passed away and although I had never met him Maria captured his personality and character with her beautiful words that she delivered in a professional, caring and considerate manner. Maria made us laugh and cry with her words and stories that painted a fitting tribute to my friend’s dad.

I just wanted to let you know how beautiful the ceremony for Ian was. 

I don’t know how to articulate what I felt but that was an amazing celebration of somebody’s life and you should be very proud as I loved listening to you today.

It was a lovely ceremony that had me crying and I never even knew Ian. The best funeral I’ve been to; so real if that makes sense and I’ve struggled to put it into words.
